Integrating FRx With Analytical Accounting

Guys,

Last few days, I been working with my colleague Ms. Samia  on integrating the the Analytical Accounting Dimensions with FRx Reports, actually it was not an easy task as expected but the results was Great :)

Basically as a start we followed the documents and worked on the steps below:

1. On FRx CD, we have installed the AddIn located under “Analytical Accounting Add-in\FRx 6.7 Add-In for Microsoft Dynamics GP Analytical Accounti.msi”.

2. We went to the following path “C:\Program Files\FRx Software\FRx 6.7\Analytical Accounting\Scripts\SQL Server” and found 2 scripts:

CreateTablesAA.sql and CreateProcsFunctionsAA.sql

First run CreateTablesAA against you Dynamics Database, which will generate another script to run on your companies’ databases, copy this script and run it on a new query window to update your database.

Then run CreateProcsFunctionsAA and perform the same steps you performed on the other script.

3. Go to the following path (or where you installed the FRx) “C:\Program Files\FRx Software\FRx 6.7\Analytical Accounting\” and run “AAWizard.exe”, which will in return will load your Analytical Accounting dimensions and codes into FRx databases. –You might face some errors in this stage, contact me if you face any error and I will help!-

4. Now we are ready to start, open FRx Report Designer the go to Company >> Information, create new company and Select “Analytical Accounting” for the accounting system –if you couldn’t select the Analytical Accounting then you will need to register some DLLs, search the knowledgebase for such article-:

5. Now the fun will begin!! Create New Row, and open the GL accounts lookup and make sure you selected “Full” in the account segment:

The first segment represents the GL account number, while the other segments are the dimensions added to the Dimension Structure you created in the wizard.

6. Add a new column and add Description and GL columns as needed:

7. Add new Report Catalog and link your row and column:

8. Print your report and enjoy having your dimensions and codes in the statement:

Good step by step. There isn't much out there about how to do this.

Also note if you make any changes to dimensions in GP you will have to use the Refresh COA button in the dimension wizard so the new dimensions will show up on your FRx reports.

Thanks for the tip Doug :)

In the AA Dimension Wizard Step 1, I am receiving the common error: "An internal program error has occurred. This program is shutting down." I have followed MBS instructions to apply SP9, SP10, and SP11, and I am still getting these errors. What solution did you find?

This error accords only if you didn't run the scripts as needed (Step 2), you need to run a script against your Dynamics database that will in return generate another script to be run on your companies.

I applied SP9 and SP11, and then I ran the two scripts located inside the SP11 download folder. I am still receiving the message. I am on FRx version 6.7.11027. Please help.

Hello All -

I have found that these errors occur when you are atttempting to run the wizard on a 64-bit machine. FRx is still not 64-bit compatible. I was able to install FRx (with AA) and even build non-AA reports, however, when I got to the AA wizard, that is when I started receiving the errors.

One work-around I have found is to run the wizard on a 32-bit machine, then map the 64-bit machine to the shared FRxRpts.f32 file. This solution is not supported by MBS, however, it was a successful work-around for me.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. In the Microsoft FRx folder, double-click the FRxReg.exe file to register all the .dll files in the Microsoft FRx folder.

2. Check the Microsoft FRx program folder, and then verify that the Fsaa80.dll file exists. After you find this file, register the file.

To do this, follow these steps:
a. Right-click the Fsaa80.dll file, and then click Open With.
b. Locate the Windows\System32 folder on the local drive.
c. In this folder, click the Regsvr32.exe file, and then click Open. You should receive a message that the file registered successfully.
