Account Rollup Inquiry

Guys,

Have you ever wanted to rollup multiple accounts into one? lets say you have the following situation:

000-1000-00 Expenses
000-1000-01 Finance Dept Expenses
000-1000-02 IT Dept Expenses
000-1000-03 HR Dept Expenses

You want all the transactions on departments accounts to be accumulated into the main expenses account based on its budgets without using FRx?

Mark Polino explained how could this happen using account rollup inquiry, checkout his post below:

Arabic Version of Microsoft Dynamics GP

Guys,

As we all know GP still not released in Arabic language by Microsoft for Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), and here in our region we are getting allot of requests to have it in Arabic.

Therefore to work around this I outsourced translating all strings and messages in the application to a specialized company in this field and imported translated strings and messages into GP dictionaries, I used "Forms" and "Reports" dictionaries for the import so GP core dictionaries will not be affected and errors caused by this change will be avoided.

Arabic interfaces looks like the following:

Financial's Home Page:

image

Checkbook Maintenance:

clip_image002

Sales Transaction Entry:

clip_image004

Issues in this version:

1. Forms direction is not "Right to Left".

2. Fields direction is not "Right to Left", this cause an issue that the user cannot delete a part of the description as they cannot select the correct word when double clicking it, so they will have to clear the entire field.

David posted methods for flipping forms but his last step requires some work that could not be affordable right now.

Arabic version with the above criteria's is available for Sale with competitive prices, currently applicable for GP 10.0, GP 9.0 and GP 8.0, let me know if anyone interested!

Calling Dynamics GP Lookup Using VBA - Method 2

Guys,

Few weeks ago I have posted a method to call GP lookup using VBA, but I have noticed that the account lookup form did not show data, so I looked into GP SDK and applied the account lookup calling through ExecuteSanScript function as shown below:

Dim GPApp As New Dynamics.Application
Dim ErrMsg As String
GPApp.CurrentProductID = 1493
Dim strCommand As String
strCommand = " local   GLCOA_AccountLookupInfo LookupInfo."
strCommand = strCommand + " set 'LookupInfo:Series' to FINANCIAL.   {Series}" + vbNewLine
strCommand = strCommand + " set 'LookupInfo:Sort By' to 4.          {Sort By Account Number}" + vbNewLine
strCommand = strCommand + " set 'LookupInfo:Post_Acct' to POST_ACCT.{Show Posting Account}" + vbNewLine
strCommand = strCommand + " set 'LookupInfo:Post_Alloc_Acct' to POST_ALLOC_ACCT." + vbNewLine
strCommand = strCommand + "                 {-- Show Posting alloc Acct --}" + vbNewLine
strCommand = strCommand + " set 'LookupInfo:Active' to false.       {No inactive accounts}" + vbNewLine
strCommand = strCommand + " set 'LookupInfo:Return Alias' to false. {-- Don't return Alias --}" + vbNewLine
strCommand = strCommand + " call Open of form Account_Lookup," + vbNewLine
strCommand = strCommand + " LookupInfo, 'Account Number CS' of window 'GL_Account_Maintenance' of form 'GL_Account_Maintenance', 'Account Number CS' of window 'GL_Account_Maintenance' of form 'GL_Account_Maintenance'." + vbNewLine
GPApp.ExecuteSanscript strCommand, ErrMsg

Now to get this lookup customized to your form and return the data to your field, there are two parameters need to be changed as explained below:

The primary function that will call the lookup is "call Open of form Account_Lookup" the function requires two parameters:

call Open of form Account_Lookup, "Initial Value", "Field to set the returned value in".

1. "Initial Value": this is the value that will be passed to the lookup to initiate the search, by default you might need to use your customized field instead.

2. "Field to set the returned value in": here you need to identify the field that the lookup will return the value in.

So basically replace "'Account Number CS' of window 'GL_Account_Maintenance' of form 'GL_Account_Maintenance'" with your field name and place code above in your Lookup button and the form will show up and works!

Hope that this helps.

Excel Based Items Cost Adjustment

Guys,

We have just released a new feature to the inventory module in Microsoft Dynamics GP based on the huge requests we got in the company by factories that uses ABC (Activity Based Costing) in their process.

The tool mainly reads and maps you excel sheet that contains your items new costs and performs mass cost adjustment to all items in the selected file between two dates to balance you inventory at period end.

Its mainly developed using VBA and Modifier, and launched from the item card as shown in the image below:

Pressing the button in the item card will open the following form:

The form will allow you to select you excel file, map fields in the file to the needed columns and create cost adjustments records for each item in Tools >> Utilities >> Inventory >> Adjust Cost one by one:

For sure this tool is not free!! But its available for purchase with its source code for customizations and modifications.

How to change GP 10.0 Homepage??

Guys,

I found an interesting post at the Newsgroup on how to remove the GP 10.0 home page, definitely the short answer will be it cannot be removed, but if this request is a must, we must workaround it, therefore I wrote this article to modify the home page file and replace its content with single logo that represents the company logo, below sample shows the home page after the modification:

HomePage

Now to have your home page looks like the above you will need to follow steps below:

1. Locate "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\Background\HomePage.xsl" and copy it to have a backup of the file.

2. Open the file using Notepad or any available editor.

3. Remove all the code inside the file and place code below instead with changing the image in the code to your company logo.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"

xmlns:fo="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format">
<xsl:output method="html" indent="yes" />
<!-- 'Page' element handler -->
<xsl:template match="Page">

<br></br>
<br></br>
<br></br>

<center><img src="D:\My Documents\GPLogo.jpg" alt="Company Logo" title="Logo" /></center>

</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>

Refresh your GP home page and enjoy!
