Dynamics GP Notes for Arabic Characters

I been away from community for the last few months, been engaged in several projects and in learning Dynamics AX following the treand!

Back to track, I installed back the “Open Live Writer” as the “Windows Live Writer” is not supporting blogger! And blogging now about issues I seen worth to be posted.

In this article I am covering an old issue that comes with Dynamics GP, whenever you type Arabic to Dynamics GP notes you realize the paid behind this which leaves users using NOTEPAD to type and then paste it back to GP.

I have created an small AddOn that fixes this for users and I am sharing this over the community, you just email me to send you the package, the tool is just allowing you to write your text inside a user-friendly textbox and whenever you are done it copies back your text to the original note:

Dynamics GP 2015 – Printing Arabic Text

If you are planning to upgrade to GP 2015 and currently having Arabic text in your database need to be printed using report writer, make sure NOT TO UPGRADE to GP 2015.

Normally for printing Arabic text in report writer, if your keyboard language was not set to Arabic, the text will be displayed as rubbish data, see below example:

In order to get this printed properly, we used to switch the keyboard language to Arabic and the text will back to normal as below:

However for GP 2015, the system will automatically switch the keyboard language to English upon the generation of the report, and unfortunately the same switch is occurred upon hitting the print button, therefore the Arabic text will never be printed in Arabic and customers will start nagging!

Hope that Microsoft could resolve this soon!

Inside Microsoft Dynamics 2010: Arabic Version of Dynamics GP 2010 “11”!!!!

Yesterday night I had nothing to do! So I extracted the strings and messages from current Arabic GP 10.0 strings and messages and applied it on GP 2010, which returned Arabic Version of GP 2010 within few hours:

Different Errors for One Reason!!!

Sometimes you finds your self in a very deep technical investigations looking for the cause of a very stupid error message or behavior that does not represents the actual cause of the message, such as situations below:

1. “All Call Stack in use. Cannot Start Script” When opening GL Transaction Entry From.

2. Smart-list has no objects and tree view that holds the smart-lists is empty.

3. Smart-lists returns no data, smart-lists are exist but no data are shown in the lists.

4. On checkbook reconciliation, no data is presented on transactions preview to be reconciled.

Go to Reconcile Bank Statement>> Select your checkbook>> Click on Transactions>> No data!!

5. Smart-list exports unknown letters when exporting non-English characters to Excel.

6. Integration Manager integrates question marks “???” instead of the original non-English text upon importing any kind of transactions.

All the above point became well known behaviors to the collation conflict for non-Unicode characters, the simple solution for all the above errors is to Set the language to English under “Advanced” tab in Regional and Language options.

Arabic Version of Microsoft Dynamics GP

Guys,

As we all know GP still not released in Arabic language by Microsoft for Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), and here in our region we are getting allot of requests to have it in Arabic.

Therefore to work around this I outsourced translating all strings and messages in the application to a specialized company in this field and imported translated strings and messages into GP dictionaries, I used "Forms" and "Reports" dictionaries for the import so GP core dictionaries will not be affected and errors caused by this change will be avoided.

Arabic interfaces looks like the following:

Issues in this version:

1. Forms direction is not "Right to Left".

2. Fields direction is not "Right to Left", this cause an issue that the user cannot delete a part of the description as they cannot select the correct word when double clicking it, so they will have to clear the entire field.

David posted methods for flipping forms but his last step requires some work that could not be affordable right now.

Arabic version with the above criteria's is available for Sale with competitive prices, currently applicable for GP 10.0, GP 9.0 and GP 8.0, let me know if anyone interested!
